Hi and welcome. This is my first post and if it's going to be as stupid as I think it might be, don't feel bad about leaving.
I'm starting this blog as a shameless promotion for my business, Terra Madre Soap Company. I sell on line at Etsy, and if I set this sucker up correctly, you should be able to click on the picture of the candles or the soap to get to my store. :-)
I had all kinds of brilliant things I was going to say, but it took so long to get this far, that I forgot what they were, so I will just start with a couple of the most frequently asked questions.
Is your name Terra? No, it's Liz. I chose the name Terra Madre because I married a wonderful man of Italian decent. Terra Madre in Italian is Earth Mother, that's the English translation, in spirit it means home land, which I liked also. I started out making just soaps and using only essential oils. So the name fit me perfectly. I have since developed a fragrance addiction, so I've gone beyond using just essential oils.
How did you get started making soap? I will give you the short version here. Some times, something catches my interest and I read up on it. Herbs were the original subject, and soap making kept coming up. It took me a while to give it a try, because it involves using LYE, (shutter). It took SEVERAL batches before I finally had one come out correctly, but once I used it, I was hooked! I couldn't stop! I had to sell it just so I could keep on making it.
I've got candles to make, and this has taken way to long to set up so I will stop here for today. Thanks for stopping by, and check back later to see if I managed to remember any thing brilliant.
